The Kirsch family grew up exploring the Sierra Nevada Mountains and because of this Old Ranch Brands is not only rooted in the outdoors but determined to protect the environment.

We are proud to prioritize low-impact materials for our men’s and women’s collections.

Spending time mountain biking, hiking, skiing, and participating in 4H gave the Kirsch siblings a reverence for our earth and a responsibility to protect it.

We want to use our family business to leave a lasting legacy and leave the places we loved as children for our grandchildren to love as well.

Organic Cotton

A yellow crop-dusting plane flying over green fields.

Grown without any artificial inputs (such as chemical fertilizers and pesticides), organic cotton presents a host of benefits for the earth and the wearer. Pesticides and mineral fertilizers are petroleum-derived which means that they contribute to global warming potential and acidification of soils.

These negative inputs can leach into the waterways and airways of local communities, affecting the health of local populations. They also take a toll on the cotton crop itself, leading to more water usage necessary to have a successful crop.

By switching to organic, we can collectively reduce our impact on climate change, soil erosion and degradation, and fellow humans.

Recycled Polyester

Colorful yarn balls and plastic bottles arranged on a blue background.

A derivative of petroleum, virgin polyester is about as good for the planet as plastic. In fact, polyester uses an estimated 342 million barrels of oil every year.

Recycled polyester not only eliminates this habit, but it also helps reduce the amount of plastic waste ending up in landfills because recycled polyester utilizes either discarded fabric scraps or rPET plastic, such as water bottles. Recycled polyester looks and feels just like its dirty counterpart. It adds a soft hand feel and strength to fabrics, which is why we love using it.

Wool

We source the majority of our wool yarn from UPW, a company that is certified by Textile Exchange with the Responsible Wool Standard.

Wool is a renewable fiber, sourced from sheep. It is biodegradable and all-natural. It has been a favored fiber since the Stone Age, particularly for its warmth, natural insulation, breathability, and odor resistance.

You will see this fiber used in our winter collections, to make our layers cozy and dependable through harsh weather.
